The Role

The Information security department is to safeguard enterprise information, computing assets, intellectual property and customer privacy while providing data retention and compliance oversight. Primary focus includes overseeing the implementation of appropriate information technology and supporting compliance measures to insure the protection of electronic information, computer security and public confidence. This position will work with internal stake holders to provide organizational efficiencies through the implementation and maintenance of a transparent Security Program that enables the business, supports the off boarding and on boarding of Companies, and implements information security, privacy initiatives, standards, and controls.

What you will do

  • Identify information and privacy protection goals and objectives in compliance with corporate governance and regulatory policy
  • Provide technical evaluation, guidance and oversight of information technology used for intrusion detection, virus protection, spam blocking, internet filtering, security monitoring, access control and remote access
  • Creation, implementation and ongoing administration of enterprise wide information security and privacy infrastructure, policies, tactical work plan, service level agreements, key performance indicators, controls and reporting
  • Overall leadership of the information security function including recruitment, development, assignment, retention, project management, performance benchmarking, and department budgeting
  • Represent the Organizations Security Thought Leadership
  • Management of third party vendor relations specific to security support and respective performance monitoring
  • Oversight and management of electronic data retention policies and Business Continuance & Disaster Recovery Activities
  • Assist with the investigation of security breaches / disclosures as well as operational risk management activities to enhance the value of the company and brand
  • Oversee a network of security directors/leaders and vendors who safeguard the company’s assets, intellectual property and computer systems, as well as the physical safety of employees and visitors.
  • Identify protection goals, objectives and metrics consistent with strategic plan
  • Manage the development and implementation of global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security
  • Work with other executives to prioritize security initiatives and spending based on appropriate risk management and/or financial methodology
  • Maintain relationships with local, state and federal law enforcement and other related government agencies

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of progressive experience in computing and information security, including experience with Internet and property systems security
  • Working knowledge of standard industry information privacy requirements
  • Proven ability to lead a highly technical team while able to effectively communicate to a broad range of non-technical staff
  • Ability to work and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment
  • Experience with disaster recovery planning, testing, auditing, risk analysis, business resumption planning, contingency planning; and other security devices; as well as contract and vendor negotiation experience
  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Management, or related field. Masters or PhD a plus
  • Must be an intelligent, articulate and persuasive leader who can serve as an effective member of the senior management team and who is able to communicate security-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff
  • Must have strong working knowledge of the law enforcement community and understanding of information technology and information security
  • Possess a strong balance of business acumen and technology knowledge
